Beschreibung

The recording “Shifted Eruption” was created in Reykjavic, Iceland, 2015, after a three-month artist residency. It was a manifestation of the impressiveness of the Icelandic nature experience, through three weeks of storms, ice, volcanoes, lunar eclipse, aurora borealis and the exuberant sea. I was joined with renowned Icelandic bassist, Skulli Sverrisson at the Mengi jazz club in Reykjavik and created a dark, cinematic recording driven by deep bass; making the rumbling power of the lava physically comprehensible and at the same time suggesting a deep sense of security and inclusion of human existence in nature.

The dance performance was done in 2022 with Anna Dahinden and Gabriel Obergfell on a metal plate of the old factory of Cima Norma, Blenio, to the LP “Shifted Eruption”. Sounding stones was placed underneath the steel plate, which lies on a large paper. Coal powder was sprinkled under each stone. The dance movements caused the stones to shatter and printed a fascinating blast marks on the paper. The bursting of the stones is amplified by the electronics and translates it into sound, adding the power of momentum to the sound recording of “Shifted Eruption”.

After the performance, the image is then presented to the audience.
